Ball tack welding is used to position and hold parts together before brazing, and is a process that is widely gaining acceptance in aerospace component OEM and MRO. There are many advantages over manual GTAW (TIG) welding and strapping processes. There is no base metal distortion or heat affected zone and parts are positioned perfectly without the chance of movement between work cells. Tack welding balls are available in a variety of materials, including stainless steels, Titanium, Inconels, and other Nickel-based alloys. Process approvals include PWA36951 and PWA15.
